TERRE LONTANE - DISTANT LANDS

With the travel restrictions from COVID-19 for 2020 and changing the way we connect with the environment at all levels, the collective desire to visit other countries has never been so compelling as in these current times.

Such a situation has enhanced my imagination, dreaming of beautiful landscapes filled with nostalgic memories, opening small windows to the outer world and bringing all its beauty to life.

The oil stick yellow line, moving organically across the paper, wants to represent the connection between one land to another. Enhanced by the materiality of the mediums and the intricate details, the abstract composition has a minimalistic visual effect, wanting to bring a harmonious feeling to the viewer…stretching across the physical boundaries this series is an invitation to connect at a deeper level, meeting a multitude of cultures & traditions near and far and flowing freely beyond the visible.

My art is inspired by nature and its beautiful landscape…dreaming of distant lands, I want to share my desire and love of travel, opening up windows to the world seeing them through my own creative eye…
I like to include my Venetian seal stamp as part of the painting composition…the choice of colours and position isn’t random its unique place balances the whole. The white and black seals are purposely chosen to share a common language complementing each other in harmony…-Gaia

The black ink line at the bottom of each painting connects the entire series, as a trace of our journey on Earth. Even though the artworks can be enjoyed separately, I intended this series to be connected with one another in a very subtle way...- Gaia
